In recent months, the technology entrepreneur Oleg Krot and the NGO “Techiia Foundation”  donated more than $300,000 worth of assistance to the defenders of Ukraine. Among the equipment purchased were water filters, cars, generators, individual heating pads, and life jackets. It is these imperceptible “little things” that come in handy in a difficult fight against the russian aggressor.

Here are just five critical conditions faced by the defenders of Ukraine, which the Techiia Foundation has joined in tackling.

1. Lack of transport

Units are constantly experiencing a shortage of off-road vehicles and vans for reconnaissance, transportation of ammunition, and evacuation of casualties. A car at the frontline is consumable because it can easily be disabled during shelling or on difficult impassability. That is why entrepreneurs and volunteers constantly look for transport for the defenders.

In particular, “Techia Foundation” purchased, repaired, and handed over 30 vehicles to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the SOF units in recent months.

2. Lack of drinking water

A thousand water filters from the American company Sawyer were handed over to Ukrainian soldiers. Filters purify water from natural reservoirs. They also turn rain and snow water into drinking water. The filter is compact and light — it weighs only 57 grams while retaining entities up to 0.1 microns. The reserve is 300,000 liters of water, which will cover the needs of the military for a long time.

Another 400 units were transferred to de-occupied territories. Water supply lines are damaged there, so the situation with drinking water is tough. Filters will help people to survive the period of drinking water shortage more easily. The filter resource will be just enough until the city services resume their normal operation.

3. Cold

As soon as the weather got chilly, the defenders received the first batch of German Thermopad heating pads from the Techiia Foundation. In total, the organization purchased 13 thousand pieces. These are high-quality individual compact heating pads convenient to put in shoes or gloves. They are thin and light, do not hinder, and do not cause discomfort when moving. Instead, they keep your hands or feet warm for at least 8 hours. Often — up to 12 hours.

The military needs such things the most during the defense of positions, control of UAVs, or long stays away from the location. Low temperature, especially at night, is easier to bear with such heating parts. They are activated by interaction with the air and maintain a sense of thermal comfort throughout the entire time. Later, a person takes the next pair to keep warm.

4. Falling into the water unconscious

800 AWN Supralite 150H vests were handed over to the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is another important detail because if the shelling occurs on water, the blast wave can throw a person overboard. If a soldier loses consciousness, he will most likely drown due to heavy equipment. A life jacket in this case will not allow the victim to go to the bottom.

The vest is light, equipped with a signal whistle and light-reflecting elements. This will facilitate the search for the victim by rescuers or warmates.

5. Lack of electricity

One huge 88 kW generator for the Special Operations Forces headquarters and 20 diesel generators with a power of 7.5 kW are already performing their tasks. Thanks to the equipment, the military has an uninterrupted power supply at the command posts. Therefore, it has become easier to plan and coordinate actions thanks to quick access to operational information. And, importantly, generators allow you to charge gadgets and cover other individual needs of defenders.

“From the first days, our company has supported Ukraine’s struggle for independence. Our colleagues have had volunteering experience since 2014 when russia annexed Crimea and occupied part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It is important for us to pay attention to all spectrums of assistance — from large-scale purchases to vital little things,” says Oleg Krot, co-founder of the TECHIIA international holding and director of the Techiia Foundation NGO.

Over the period of russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the Techiia Foundation NGO provided humanitarian aid to the defenders of Ukraine in the amount of more than $21.5 million. This includes vehicles, UAVs, military clothing with accessories, and much more. Moreover, Oleg Krot purchased almost $40 million worth of military essentials. Not all details of the purchases are disclosed due to military secrecy.
