10 Tips for Safe Online Dating

tips-for-safe-online-dating

As we become more and more reliant on technology in our day-to-day lives, it’s no surprise that online dating is becoming increasingly popular. However, while the internet can be a great resource for finding love, it can also be a dangerous place if you’re not careful and vigilant. Here are 10 tips for staying safe while online dating.

1. Do Your Research

Before you get started with online dating, make sure you’re fully prepared for what’s about to come. Think about what sites would be best suited to your criteria and start familiarizing yourself with the process of creating an account and posting your photo(s).

2. Set Up a Unique Email Address

When creating your profile, use a unique email address that will allow you to easily identify any messages from people who don’t have good intentions. This will save a lot of time if any potential suitors turn out to be completely different from what they seemed online.

3. Keep Personal Details Private

In the same way that you wouldn’t walk up to a complete stranger in the street and tell them your full name, address and date of birth, you shouldn’t be giving out this information on an online dating website either. While it’s tempting to put up all your details when someone asks for them, resist the urge. No one needs to know everything about you straight away.

4. Don’t Share Sensitive Information

Just like with personal details, always think twice before sharing anything sensitive such as where you work or live. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable doing so, don’t post it or delete it before re-posting if necessary. The internet is a very public place and any money-hungry criminals who can see that sort of info will be sure to take advantage.

5. Be Cautious of What You Post on Your Wall

When you’re online dating, your Facebook wall is the first thing that potential matches are likely to look at before they make a judgment on whether or not they want to get in contact with you. If you’ve had a recent breakup or are feeling particularly emotional about life in general, it’s best not to post any negative updates until after you’ve met someone face-to-face, otherwise they could think twice about approaching you for fear that you might be high maintenance!

6. Run a Background Check On Them

If your gut instinct is warning you that something’s wrong, you can always run a background check on the person who’s caught your eye by using a search engine. This will help you to find out if they’re married, have a criminal record or any other important information that could impact your trust in them.

7. Meet in a Public Place

If you feel comfortable doing so, arrange to meet someone at a public place such as a cafe, restaurant or bar before going back together to one of your houses. This gives both of you the chance to see how well you get on and it makes it harder for anyone who has sinister plans towards either of you. Just make sure that they know not to bring friends along with them when meeting up for the first time!

8. Don’t Give Out Your Number Straight Away

On paper, the internet is an anonymous place which means that talking on the phone is safer than it would be in person. However, just like with personal details and sensitive information, always think twice before giving your phone number to someone you don’t know very well. It’s better to wait until you’ve got a bit more background information and feel confident that they’re not going to harm you.

9. Don’t Meet Up with Anyone If You Suspect They’re Lying

If for some reason the warning bells are ringing louder than ever and you really do suspect that someone is lying about who they claim to be on their profile, give them as much false information as possible as soon as you start talking over the site or by email/phone if they haven’t asked for your contact details yet. This means that if they are planning on doing you harm, they won’t be able to because they don’t know where to find you.

10. Stay Safe

Above all, just remember that while online dating can be fun and exciting, it’s always better to protect yourself by using your common sense. This means keeping everything you’ve just read in mind at all times when meeting up with new people through the internet. Above all else, if your gut instinct is warning you about something then trust it!

Are You Being Paranoid or Is Your Partner Actually Suspicious

Published

on

are-you-being-paranoid-or-is-your-partner-actually-suspicious

Are you constantly questioning your partner’s motives? Do you feel like you can’t trust them, even though they haven’t given you a reason not to? If so, you may be suffering from paranoia. Keep reading to find out how to tell the difference between paranoia and genuine suspicion.

Are you being paranoid or is your partner actually suspicious?

Are you being paranoid or is your partner actually suspicious? This is a question that many couples face, and it can be difficult to know what to do. If you are worried that your partner is cheating on you, there are some signs that you can look for. One of the most common signs is if your partner suddenly becomes secretive and starts hiding their phone or computer. They may also start making excuses to avoid being alone with you. If you feel like your partner is being too possessive or controlling, this may also be a sign that they are hiding something you. If you have any suspicions at all, it’s important to talk to your partner about them. If they are innocent, they will likely be happy to clear things up with you. However, if they are guilty, they may try to deny or dismiss your concerns. It’s important that you do what you can to figure out what they may be hiding. Conducting a people search is a great way to do this. Search services allow you the process of locating someone online and learning all about their personal information. You can use search engines to find people by first name and last name, email address, or phone number. You can also use search engines to find public records and criminal records. Some search engines also allow you to find social media profiles.

What to do if you’re worried about your partner?

Talk to your partner about your concerns. If they’re able to reassure you that everything is okay, then you can relax. However, if they can’t provide a reasonable explanation for why they’ve been behaving suspiciously, it may be time to take further action. One thing you can do is keep track of your partner’s behavior. Note when they seem to be acting strange or up to something sneaky. This can help you build a case against them and may make it easier to prove that something is wrong. Finally, if all else fails, you may want to consider leaving the relationship altogether. If your partner is being secretive and dishonest, it’s likely that things won’t get better in the future. It’s best not to waste your time with someone who isn’t willing to be honest with you.

What do you do if you catch your partner in a lie?

If you have caught your partner in a lie, the first thing you should do is confront them about it. Be sure to stay calm and collected, as this will only make the situation worse if you lose your temper. Ask your partner why they lied and what else they may be hiding from you. If your partner is not willing to talk openly and honestly about the issue, it may be a sign that there is something more going on that they are not willing to share with you. And if this is the case, you may want to consider ending the relationship.

Overall, the guide above is important because it teaches people how to identify and deal with suspicious behavior in their partners. It is helpful for those who may be paranoid and need to learn how to trust their partner again, as well as for those who may be worried that their partner is hiding something or not being truthful to them.

Planning a Scavenger Hunt Proposal: 10 Tips to Keep in Mind

Published

on

tips-on-planning-a-scavenger-hunt-proposal

Looking for a fun way to propose? Consider a scavenger hunt! A scavenger hunt proposal is a unique way to pop the question, and there are plenty of ways to personalize it and make it special. Below we discuss reasons to do a scavenger hunt proposal and a couple of helpful tips.

Why Do a Scavenger Hunt Proposal?

Because It’s Unique

First of all, it’s something off the beaten path. If you want a proposal to match the unique oval engagement ring you’re planning to propose with, this is a solid contender. Sure, some other people are doing it, but it’s easier to tailor-make this proposal to your specific relationship than other proposal options out there.

Because It’s Fun

We often forget this part of the proposal. It’s supposed to be fun! Yes, it’s nerve-racking and, yes, you want it to be absolutely perfect. It’s also supposed to be one of the most fun and exciting moments of your life so why not make a game out of it?

What to Keep in Mind

1. Make Sure This Is Something They Want

This should go without saying, but we feel we should say it just in case. If you love puzzles, but you’re the only one of you who feels that way, this isn’t the proposal. Unless you’re proposing to yourself, consider going a different route.

2. Don’t Make It too Difficult

Unless you’re marrying Leslie Knope (who is both taken and, well, fictional), don’t go too crazy on the clues. It’s fun to rack your brain a bit, but there’s an upper limit here. You don’t want to make it too easy because then it’s just orienteering but with all the challenges removed from it.

At the same time, you want to make the scavenger hunt fun and engaging. Use your best judgment here and you’ll find the sweet spot of challenging and doable.

3. Consider Hiring a Professional

A professional scavenger hunter, you ask? No, a professional proposal planner. A professional scavenger hunter sounds intriguing, though. Might end up with a show on A&E. Not the point.

With a rise in elaborate proposals, there’s a whole profession dedicated to crafting the perfect proposal. Sure, you don’t have to hire the services of a pro here, but if you’re stuck, they can be quite helpful.

4. Make It Meaningful

As we know, you don’t have to do anything extravagant for it to be meaningful. After all, an affordable engagement ring can have the same emotional value that something much more expensive does. The general idea here is to pick important moments and places in your relationship and have them play a role. You don’t have to go overboard here. Aim for sentiment.

5. Keep It Local

Unless you two love road trips, keep this reasonably close by. If you have to drive half an hour in between clues, you’ll both be tired by the end. Go with a handful of clues that stay in the same general area and you’ll be good.

6. End It Somewhere Awesome

You’ve got to cap it off somehow. Whether that’s a beautiful park or the scene of your first date — or just a nice restaurant — you want to end this on a high note. This is a good opportunity to bring friends and family to the final location so everyone can share in the experience.

7. Recruit Some Friends

More hands make less work. It also makes for more fun in this scenario. If you bring some friends with you to set up, you’ll go a lot faster and probably get some good ideas you hadn’t considered. That and the fact that it’s just more fun, so you really can’t go wrong here.

8. Hire a Photographer

Whether you want to hire a photographer to wait at the end or follow along the whole way is up to you. Honestly, the idea of a photographer covertly following the whole thing is quite amusing. Like a photography ninja. Ninja or not, having a photographer, at least at the end of the scavenger hunt, is always a good investment.

9. Pick a Sunny Day

You could do a scavenger hunt in the rain, but this isn’t The Notebook and someone is going to catch a cold. Just an overall bad time. This is best enjoyed in good weather so vigilantly check that weather forecast and plan accordingly.

10. Have a Backup Plan

Your clues may not be as obvious as you think. The weather may turn. Whatever it is, have a backup plan. Whether your backup plan looks like bringing a friend along with your fiancé-to-be to give hints or an entirely different backup proposal is up to you. Just remember that with this many moving parts, something can go wrong and you’ll want to be prepared for it.

When crafting a scavenger hunt proposal, less is more. “It’s not the destination — it’s the journey” doesn’t apply here. It’s very much the destination. Like, seriously, it could not be any more about the destination than it is here.

Get a few clues pointing to a few meaningful places, end it at somewhere special (and photograph-worthy) and pop the question. That’s really all there is to it. Good luck!
